On pourra enfin se demander o\u00f9 cette \u0153uvre a\u00e9t\u00e9 initi\u00e9e. Remonter le cours de l\u2019Histoire et y chercher les premiers ornements tiss\u00e9s entre math\u00e9matiques et soci\u00e9t\u00e9. Sont-ce les compagnies d\u2019assurance n\u00e9erlandaises cr\u00e9\u00e9es au XVIe si\u00e8cle, qui estimaient combien de voiliers partis chercher des \u00e9pices reviendraient indemnes des Indes, et d\u00e9veloppaient ainsi les calculs de probabilit\u00e9s ? Plus loin : les g\u00e9om\u00e8tres \u00e9gyptiens qui, au temps des pharaons d\u00e9j\u00e0 redessinaient les champs d\u00e9vast\u00e9s apr\u00e8s chaque crue du Nil, garantissant \u00e0 chacun sa superficie. Ou encore les premiers collecteurs d\u2019imp\u00f4ts assyriens, il y a trois mill\u00e9naires ? O\u00f9 les<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">premiers liens entre math\u00e9matiques et soci\u00e9t\u00e9 se sont-ils nou\u00e9s ? Peut-\u00eatre entre les mains de cette personne qui a taill\u00e9 dans un radius de loup 55 encoches, il y a pr\u00e8s de 25 000 ans ? Des encoches r\u00e9parties en deux s\u00e9ries de groupes de cinq. Que comptaient-elles ? Nul ne le sait\u2026 Mais l\u00e0, d\u00e9j\u00e0, sur les bords de la rivi\u00e8re Thaya, dans cette soci\u00e9t\u00e9 peut-\u00eatre pas si \u00e9loign\u00e9e de la n\u00f4tre, le d\u00e9nombrement \u00e9tait n\u00e9. Et avec lui l\u2019ind\u00e9fectible tapisserie liant math\u00e9matiques et soci\u00e9t\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial,
